President’s Report

Presented at our recent Annual General Meeting on 25 March 2017, by our President, Judy Spencer.

President’s Report 2017

It is with pleasure I present my report for the 2016 year.

It has been a somewhat difficult year with reduced membership, meaning reduced funds to operate and fewer members to man the Resource Centre.

Also I was otherwise engaged with another group and had reduced hours to contribute.

A really big thank you to those members who continue to volunteer weekly and fortnightly to help keep the centre open.  Your support is very much appreciated.

Many thanks for the clean-up of the centre at the beginning of the year, and to all members who have contributed in any way to support the Association, a heartfelt thank you.

Two evening workshops, a Beginners and a Follow up were held during April.  Two very successful workshops, Nagoorin with nine participants and Calliope with sixteen attendees were held. These workshops gained some much needed new members.  Thank you to Paulette and Jan for preparing and presenting these workshops.

On 31st October we held our “Shadows of the Past” Cemetery walk with stories presented by Paulette, Jan and Judy.  This event was well attended and enjoyed by all.

We held an open day on 5th November, “Glimpses of our Wartime Past”, as a tribute for Remembrance Day.  This was well attended by members and the public including our local member Glenn Butcher and several Councillors. Guest speaker Robyn Marshall gave a very informative and enjoyable presentation on researching Military History and talked on her recent tour of the Battlefields of France.  Robyn is willing to return to conduct further workshops on Military topics.

The year is off to a flying start with a Beginners Workshop with eleven attendees.  Thanks Paulette and members for the afternoon.

With planning well underway for a full calendar of events and fundraising activities for 2017, we will hopefully gain more members and grow and prosper well into the future.

I take this opportunity to thank all members for their assistance and support during the past year and wish the Incoming Committee a successful and enjoyable year.
